The role connects the Committee's Irish language duties with its education work. It is a practical service, not a translation desk: the officer helps schools, adult learners and community groups to plan and deliver learning through Irish.
What the officer does
- Advises schools on Irish medium provision and language planning.
- Supports adult learners who wish to study through Irish.
- Works with Gaeltacht communities and Irish language organisations.

- Promotes the use of Irish in the Committee's own work.
For schools
Schools can ask for advice on curriculum resources, language supports, events and links with Irish language bodies. The officer can also help with the Irish language dimension of school planning.
For adult learners
Adults who want to learn Irish, improve their Irish or study a subject through Irish can ask about local classes and resources. The officer will identify what is available and connect the learner with a suitable group.
For community groups
Community organisations can seek advice on Irish language events, signage, publications and funding opportunities. The officer works with groups at every scale, from a local club to a Gaeltacht organisation.

You can conduct business with the Committee in Irish. Phone the office and ask for the Timire Gaeilge, or write in Irish. Correspondence in Irish receives a reply in Irish.
