The centre in Clifden provides day services and support for adults with intellectual disabilities. The Committee works with the host organisation to provide education that fits the setting and the people who use it.
How the partnership works
The host organisation provides the setting, identifies learners and supports attendance. The Committee provides a tutor, a programme and, where appropriate, accreditation. Both organisations agree the practical arrangements, including safeguarding and confidentiality.
What learners can study
Programmes are chosen to match the group. They may include literacy and numeracy, digital skills, communication, creative work, health and wellbeing, or preparation for further education. The content is agreed with the host organisation rather than imposed from outside.
Progression
Where a learner wishes to continue, the tutor and host staff help identify a local course, a guidance appointment or a supported route into mainstream provision. The aim is to make the next step possible, not to keep the learner in a separate system.
Referral and contact
Referrals normally come through the host organisation. A learner or family member can also contact the main office and ask about the partnership in Clifden. Staff will explain whether a place is available and how to join.
