St. Jarlath's Vocational School, Mountbellew, has provided education in the area at both Second and Adult Education since 1932. The School's mission statement is to encourage the students to reach their full potential in a caring and learning environment. The Post Leaving Certificate Courses (P.L.C.s) being offered at this school are designed to help students gain skills and enhance their employment potential.

Childcare Studies with Classroom Assistant
This course is designed for people who are interested in working with young children in a variety of settings, including nurseries, crèches, and schools. Many schools now employ a classroom assistant and, on completion of the course, students are qualified to take up such a position.

- Courses are of a one year duration (from September – May) and available free of charge.

- Those who wish to access third level education via a FETAC Award.
- Those who wish to develop new skills.

Maintenance Grants

Students are prepared for the assessment and certification requirements of FETAC Level 5 (Department of Education & Science)
