Located in the centre of Loughrea, St Brendan’s Education Centre is a “second-chance� education provider for those who wish to gain qualifications, prepare for the working world and improve life skills.
Mission Statement
St Brendan’s Education Centre promotes a quality system of education that incorporates life long learning to all members of society and helps learners develop to their full potential in a secure environment.
Aims:
- To focus on the holistic development of each learner.
- To support local schools and all Department of Education & Science policies.
- To provide Learning Support.
- Provide career guidance to all learners
- Evaluate course content and delivery of services on an on-going basis.

Casual Autumn and Spring eveningclasses for adults in areas of interest to them such as:
- Art
- Creative Writing
- Dressmaking
- BTEI* in a wide range of subjects
- FETAC* Level 5 Childcare
- FETAC* Level 5 Special Needs Assistant
- OCR (Oxford Cambridge and RSA Exams in Classroom Assistant Course)
- Other Evening Classes depending on demand.

*Junior Certificate Schools Programme
The Junior Certificate Schools Programme makes the Junior Certificate more accessible to people who may have left school without formal qualifications. It is a practical programme which combines project work with formal examinations. It is also suitable for second chance learners.
* L.C.A.P.
The Leaving Certificate Applied is an alternative course to mainstream Leaving Certificate. It is more practical as it involves project and task work. It also includes work experience and learners can progress on to PLCs, Institutes of Technologies, Access Programmes, Banks, Gardai etc after successfully completing the course.
*F.E.T.A.C.
The Further Education & Training Awards Council gives people the opportunity to gain recognition for learning in education or training centres, in the work place and the community.
